The big differences between these models, at first glance, is what you’ll find under the hood. Engine size and output increase with the size of the vehicle, as more power is needed to move a larger SUV. The other key difference is seating, since the MDX is only one of the three to offer a third row of seats. But we really need to dig into the overall dimensions of each vehicle to fully appreciate what this all means.

As you can see, the difference between the ADX and RDX isn’t huge. But there are still some important differences. The difference in wheelbase is greater than the difference in overall length, meaning the wheels are pushed out closer to the corners. On top of this, the RDX is wider, and has almost an inch more ground clearance. These characteristics give it better handling in light off-road conditions, if that’s important to you. The MDX is noticeably larger though, which makes sense as the only three-row in the lineup. Which brings us to the interior dimensions.

The MDX is obviously the biggest of the three vehicles, and things like more cargo space and more passenger volume as a whole are exactly what you would expect. It’s also specifically wider than the other SUVs, so more shoulder room and hiproom also don’t come as a surprise. But both of the smaller models offer more front-row legroom. It’s not enough of a difference that you’ll really notice, but it does highlight that people who don’t often need a lot of cargo space or seating for seven might be just as comfortable in a smaller model. And that’s the beauty of the Acura SUV lineup: you get all of the great things that make it an Acura, no matter which model you go for.
