AcuraWatch Package Review
Known as a pioneer in engineering the safest vehicles on the road, Acura remains committed to providing drivers with forward-thinking features to make their drive safer. AcuraWatch is a suite of safety and driver-assistive technologies designed to keep you safe while inspiring confidence behind the wheel.
AcuraWatch Features
Collision Mitigation Braking Systemâ„¢ (CMBSâ„¢)
Powered by a combination of radar transmitter and forward-facing camera, the CMBSâ„¢ determines the distance and closing speed of detected objects that lie directly ahead. When the system detects that a frontal collision is unavoidable, even if no prior alerts have been given, strong braking is automatically applied to help reduce the impact velocity and collision force.
Forward Collision Warning (FCW)
Using an onboard camera, Forward Collision Warning is designed to monitor the gap between you and the vehicle or object in front of you. Should that gap begin to close too quickly, the system is designed to use both audible and visual warnings to inform you to reduce your speed.
Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) with Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
The Road Departure Mitigation system uses a camera to identify lane markers such as painted lane lines and cat eye markers. When the system detects the vehicle is about to leave the road, it warns the driver with an MID warning message and an amber head-up warning. The system then uses the active steering function of the Lane Keeping Assist system to guide you back into its detected lane.
Blind Spot Information (BSI) System
This system detects vehicles approaching from behind in adjacent lanes. Blind Spot Information is designed to trigger the appropriate indicator or warning, providing assistance when you change lanes in your Acura.
Rear Cross Traffic Monitor
The Rear Cross Traffic Monitor actively monitors while the vehicle is in reverse to detect vehicles. When another vehicle is about to cross behind, the system will issue an audible and visual alert on the rear-view camera screen.
Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low-Speed Follow (LSF)
At speeds below the set cruise speed, ACC will maintain the set interval by modulating the throttle and applying moderate braking when appropriate. The interval from the detected vehicle will remain even if it slows to a stop. While cruising, engage the ACC and the system will prompt you to select a short, medium or long interval from the vehicle detected ahead.
Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS)
On straight or mildly curved roads, LKAS works to keep the car in the center of the detected lane. If you steer out of a detected lane without signaling your intention, the system will gently tug the steering wheel and help guide the car back to the center of the lane.
As an industry leader in driver assistance and advanced safety technologies, Acura continues to expand the availability of AcuraWatch.
